SIFIDE II (Sistema de Incentivos Fiscais à Investigação e Desenvolvimento Empresarial) is a mechanism created by the Portuguese State to stimulate competitiveness and innovation, allowing companies to deduct a significant percentage of expenses related to Research & Development (R&D) activities from their corporate income tax (IRC).
Eligible expenses, duly certified by the National Innovation Agency (ANI), include projects that strengthen technological capacity and the development of new products, processes, or services. The programme therefore represents an effective opportunity to reduce the tax burden while simultaneously investing in value creation and business innovation.
In addition to carrying out R&D activities directly, companies may access the SIFIDE II tax benefit by investing in eligible venture capital funds whose investment policy is focused on business projects with a strong innovative and technological component.
Several funds managed by BlueCrow meet the eligibility criteria defined under the programme, enabling companies to:
*Incremental rate of 15% applicable to companies with less than two years of activity
The funds managed by BlueCrow that qualify under SIFIDE II are regulated by the CMVM, follow clear investment policies, and are subject to analysis and monitoring processes that ensure compliance with the legal and tax requirements of the programme.
